Scores

My Suzuki teacher friend just asked if I'd be interested in playing with his students later this year. He emailed me scores of Vivaldi's Four Seasons, Brandenburg Concerto #3, Beethoven's Symphony #7 (2nd movement), Bach's Violin Concerto in E Major (Continuo part), and Bach's Concerto in D minor (Continuo). Wow, what a challenge! Should I pick up the gauntlet?

Hello! Whenever I clicked on you I got to your April post, so thought you had left this planet! I've now pretty well caught up with you and admire your courage in making the video clips. I am pretty much a closet cellist when practising. Well done!

Duh! Find the beginning of that gauntlet and jump in.

The quiz was right - hot pink is definitely you.

Aaaaah Bach, Beethoven, Vivaldi. [*jealous sigh*] A challenge for sure, but what a wonderful opportunity for playing with others and being exposed to some of the very best in classical music.

Take the plunge!

Feel free to ignore my dissenting opinion, but I would say what my teacher would say: spend most of your time on the basics of learning how to play in the beginning and don't overload yourself with other music. You might want to choose easier-than-normal music for your chamber music experience, rather than more-challenging-than-normal music.

I say this, of course, as someone who almost never turns down an opportunity to play.

OK - I asked some questions and found out that R sent me some of these scores just for "fun". So no need to panic just YET.
